1QQ supports 2-10 players per game. The experience works great with any group size—intimate with 2 people, energetic with larger groups. We find 3-6 players to be the sweet spot for balanced conversation where everyone gets plenty of airtime.
Game length varies significantly based on group size and how deeply you explore each question. Some groups spend 2-3 minutes per card, while others take 10-15 minutes for rich discussions. A typical game with 4 players might last 45-90 minutes. There's no time limit—take as long as you need for meaningful conversation.
Yes! Late joiners are welcome. They can enter the room code at any time and will be added to the turn rotation immediately. This makes 1QQ flexible for situations where people arrive at different times.
Every player gets 2 skips per game. Use them if a question feels too personal, uncomfortable, or simply doesn't resonate. There's no shame in skipping—respecting boundaries creates psychological safety that actually leads to deeper sharing on other questions. You can also suggest rephrasing the question to make it more comfortable.
Absolutely! 1QQ works wonderfully for pairs. In fact, some of our most meaningful experiences come from one-on-one play. The "36 Questions to Fall in Love" pack is specifically designed for two people. Smaller groups often lead to even deeper, more intimate conversations.
1QQ has five question types: "Ask Someone" (card drawer picks who answers), "Everyone Answers" (all players respond), "Card Drawer Answers" (only the person who drew), "Would You Rather" (choose between two options), and "Yes or No" (boundary and preference questions). Each type creates different conversation dynamics.
Currently, you need to choose your question pack before starting the game and stick with it for that session. However, you can always start a new game with a different pack if your group wants to explore different conversation territory. We're working on adding mid-game pack switching in a future update.
1QQ works on any device with a modern web browser—smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. The interface is fully responsive and optimized for all screen sizes. We recommend Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge for the best experience. No app download required!
Yes, 1QQ requires an active internet connection since it's a real-time multiplayer game. All players need to be connected for the game state to sync properly. We recommend a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection for the smoothest experience.
If a player disconnects, the game continues without them. If they reconnect using the same room code and player name, they'll rejoin seamlessly with all their progress preserved (including remaining skips and card history). The turn simply passes to the next player while someone is disconnected.

Yes! Authenticated users can create custom question packs tailored to their specific needs. This is perfect for themed game nights, specific relationship contexts, or professional team-building scenarios. Create personalized packs with your own questions and share them with your group.
Premium packs offer specialized content for specific contexts. These include advanced intimacy questions for couples, professional development prompts for teams, therapeutic conversation tools, and topic-specific deep dives. Premium packs are typically longer and more carefully curated than free packs.
The "36 Questions to Fall in Love" pack is based on psychologist Arthur Aron's research. His study showed that 36 specific questions, asked in order with gradually increasing intimacy, can create close bonds between strangers in just 45 minutes. This pack follows the original research protocol and is popular for dates and deepening romantic connections.
Yes! Click on "Your Card History" to see all the questions your group has drawn during the current game. This is useful for referencing earlier conversations, seeing how far you've come, or reflecting on the experience afterward. Each player can view their own card history from their profile.
Start with "Getting to Know You" for a first date. It offers light conversation starters that create connection without overwhelming vulnerability. If you're both comfortable and want to go deeper, you can always start a new game with "Deeper Connections" or the "36 Questions" pack later in the evening.
Choose packs carefully to match your workplace culture and boundaries. "Getting to Know You" works well for most professional contexts. Set clear expectations about confidentiality and participation (skipping is always okay). Use it during team offsites, onboarding new members, or virtual happy hours. Keep sessions to 30-60 minutes for workplace settings.
Start with easier questions and gradually build comfort. Remind everyone that skipping is always allowed. As the facilitator, consider answering first to model vulnerability. Create explicit confidentiality agreements. Sometimes it helps to establish a "what happens in the game stays in the game" rule. The shy people often open up most once they feel safe!
Many therapists and counselors use conversation card games as tools for couples therapy, group therapy, and family counseling. While 1QQ isn't a replacement for professional mental health treatment, it can facilitate structured conversations in therapeutic contexts. Always defer to professional judgment about what's appropriate for specific clients.
